As noted, there has been much speculation regarding the future of former Impact Wrestling Champion EC3 after Carter finished up with Impact at the last set of TV tapings.

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, EC3 will indeed be returning to WWE, where he previously worked in developmental under the ring name Derrick Bateman. PWInsider.com adds EC3 was recently spotted at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.
Should WWE want Carter to continue using his EC3 name in the company, it would likely be allowed, as Impact’s recent restructuring of talent contracts allows for wrestlers to keep their Impact Wrestling names and gimmicks for use in other promotions.
Another former Impact Champion whose future is currently being discussed is Bobby Lashley. The former ECW Champion also finished up with Impact at the last set of tapings, and it is believed a WWE return will happen at some point, reports The Observer. There are conflicting reports regarding Lashley’s Impact status, however, as PWInsider.com is reporting Lashley is still contracted to Impact until February 1st, but Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting Lashley has not been under contract with Impact since last April, making him an outright free agent.
Interestingly, Lashley has been pulled from an upcoming WrestlePro event and replaced by John Morrison, as seen in the Tweet below.

With regards to possible Royal Rumble appearances by Lashley and EC3, Carter has been pulled from an indie date taking place on the day of the Royal Rumble, making him free to appear at the PPV. As for Lashley, if he is still under contract with Impact until 2/1, he will need to receive permission from Impact officials to appear on WWE TV.
