Speaking to L’Équipe, Marseille central defender Álvaro González discussed his objectives in the short-to-medium term, which included playing for the Spanish national team.
“When I came here, I said that my first aim was to play in the Champions’ League. People thought that I was a bit crazy. We are on a run that could enable us to get there and we are aware that we have to get there. I also said that I wanted to get my first shot at discovering the Spanish national team. It is my slightly crazy dream, but I want to do it. I play every week with internationals. Strootman, Mandanda, Sakai, Payet… Everyone goes to their national teams. I would like to do the same.”
