AS Nancy have sealed the loan signing of striker Santy Ngom from FC Nantes.
After days of negotiations between the clubs, the much-coveted 25-year-old becomes the third recruit of the January transfer window for Ligue 2’s bottom side.
The Senegalese paid tribute to manager Alain Perrin in convincing him to sign at the Stade Marcel Picot: “I was persuaded by the conversation with Alain Perrin, who phoned me a few days ago…He’s a coach who loves the game, it’s important for me. As for Nancy’s position, that does not scare me. It’s just exciting and a very good challenge”.
A youth product of his hometown club Le Mans FC, Ngom played for the reserve teams at Guingamp and Paris Saint-Germain, before an unsuccessful spell at Bulgarian side Levski Sofia precipitated a more fruitful period with French fifth tier side La Suze FC, where he notably recorded 36 goals in the 2016/17 campaign.
His excellent form caught the eye of the then-Nantes manager Claudio Ranieri, who signed him initially to their reserve team in the summer of 2017. He has since made 13 first-team appearances for Les Canaris, recording one goal.
