New Japan Pro-Wrestling has now officially recognized a stipulation first teased by Hiroshi Tanahashi, and later legitimized by Chris Jericho.
As previously reported, Tanahashi stated in a recent interview that if he defeated Y2J in their upcoming match at the Tokyo Dome, he believes he would deserve a shot at the AEW World Championship, assuming of course that Jericho returns to a New Japan ring in the future.
Jericho himself then released a video confirming that if “The Ace” is actually able to defeat him at Wrestle Kingdom on January 5th, he will in fact grant Tanahashi a world title match.
