The arts of Italian fashion and Chinese cinematography are set to come together later this year in a glamorous new film directed by Jiang Wen and styled by Giorgio Armani.
Women’s Wear Daily reports that earlier this week at Cannes Film Festival, Armani teamed up with the Chinese director, actor, and screenwriter to host a cocktail party promoting the new film Gone With the Bullets (Chinese: Yi Bu Zhi Yao, 一步之遥), a 3D epic set in the 1920’s that is slated for a China release date of December 18. Armani collaborated with the film’s art director William Chang to create the costumes for lead characters portrayed by Ge You, Shu Qi, Zhou Yun, Wang Zhiwen, and Wen Zhang. The fashion designer also recently created the costumes for Martin Scorsese’s blockbuster The Wolf of Wall Street. According to the article:
Jiang Wen is well-known in China for his starring role in Zhang Yimou’s Red Sorghum alongside Gong Li, who was also working the Cannes red carpet this year.
