Beijingers: Don’t miss this one. Running from September 8-9 at the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA), the Creators Project makes its triumphant return to the Chinese capital with a two-day-long explosion of rock ‘n roll, film, fashion and art. Headlined by former LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy, who will be DJing a Saturday set following a screening of the LCD Soundsystem documentary “Shut Up and Play the Hits,” the event will feature an impressive lineup of international and Chinese musical acts, from New Jersey’s Real Estate and Portland’s Chromatics to the legendary Beijing electronic group FM3 and Shanghai rockers Duck Fight Goose.
The event will also feature a grab-bag of arts and fashion debuts, from Chris Milk‘s The Treachery of Sanctuary and SuperUber’s OctoCloud to the new fashion line by Beijing designer (and Jing Daily favorite) Vega Zaishi Wang, presented in collaboration with UFO Media Lab with music by Zhang Shouwang of Carsick Cars fame. New work will also be shown by Shanghai-based artist B6 and painter Kong Lingnan, Yang Yongliang and the winners of the Creators Project’s Beijing Hackathon 2012.
In the days approaching the event, be sure to check out the official schedule page to find out about additional films, panels and updates as they’re posted.
Oh, and best of all, the event is free — all you have to do is RSVP here.
