Payback last night ended with Braun Strowman defeating Roman Reigns and further establishing his dominance on the main roster. One would think that this puts him in line for a possible Universal Title shot, but we still have a few more shows to go before Great Balls of Fire. Theoretically, Roman Reigns could avenge his loss, then move on to a feud with Brock Lesnar. So for fans of tonight’s outcome, be warned, it looks as though this feud will continue.
After the show concluded, Roman Reigns did not get on the stretcher like the officials advised, and he left on his own power. Backstage, Reigns continued to slowly make his way out of the building while he was beaten and bleeding from the mouth. Suddenly, Braun Strowman tried to attack “the Big Dog” from behind but was beaten down. Strowman was then sent flying into one of the open doors of an ambulance, which upon contact, broke free from the vehicle. Roman then crushed Strowman’s head with the other door in the back of the ambulance to send the crowd home happy.
Strowman defeated Roman Reigns in his return match without any interference at all, but it is likely leading to Roman and Strowman facing each other for the final time at the next pay-per-view. Since the next show is Extreme Rules, it is possible that their next match will involve weapons and plunder, presumably it would be an ambulance match. This could lead to a big climactic final match between the two of them with the winner then going on to face Lesnar for the title at the inaugural Great Balls of Fire event in July.
