It was announced today that former NWA Mid Atlantic, JCP, WWF, and WCW broadcaster Tony Schiavone will return to the wrestling broadcast booth to call Major League Wrestling’s One- Shot event on October 5th. Schiavone will be calling the event with Rich Bocchini, formerly known as Rich Brenan while he worked for the WWE.
“I’m really excited to return, and the reason I am so excited is
Tony started out in baseball in the early 80’s and was recruited into wrestling as a backstage interviewer at the very first Starrcade event in 1983. He worked for the Crockett family’s NWA promotion until January of 1989 when he left for the then WWF for a year. He returned to what was then WCW in 1990 and stayed with the company calling its final show in 2001. When he was not picked up by the WWF he pulled away from wrestling, only appearing sporadically. After he left wrestling he called minor league baseball for both TV and radio as well as the University of Georgia Bulldogs football while writing and commentating on the Georgia Bulldogs Radio Network.
MCW: One Shot is scheduled to feature Ricochet vs. Shane “Swerve” Strickland in the main event with MVP vs. Sami Callihan also scheduled. Olympian Jeff Cobb will also be wrestling against a yet to be named opponent. The event will take place at the GILT Nightclub in Orlando. More information can be found at The MLW Website.
