Bobby Roode Makes His Smackdown Debut

During tonight’s Smackdown live, former NXT champion Bobby Roode made his main roster debut in interrupting Aiden English. Roode was greeted like a face by the crown at the Barclay’s Center and acted as the face in the match against English. However, on TV The match started and the show went to commercial with the picture in picture, meaning no commentary and reduced picture for the first few minutes.
Roode was last seen losing the NXT Title to Drew McIntyre in the main event of Takeover: Brooklyn III. During the match broadcaster JBL made a Beer Money reference, subtly joking about Roodes former tag team with James Storm, in TNA. Roode won the match after taking English’s “Director’s Cut” finisher before landing his “Glorious” DDT finisher to win the match. He was then interviewed by Renee Young in the ring, where he thanked Shane McMahon for breaking the bank to bring him onto Smackdown Live!.
So it seems Roode is being treated as a face now that he is on the main roster. It will be interesting to see if the WWE sticks with that idea, or if he becomes the heel that he was on NXT. As has been seen from many others, Vince McMahon doesn’t pay attention to NXT, which is run by Triple H. Thusly the main roster will be much different for anyone coming out of NXT. We shall see where this goes.
