Chris Jericho has made only a few appearances in WWE so far this year as he has mostly been reigniting his career in New Japan Pro Wrestling while promoting his upcoming wrestling-themed cruiser over the past few months. Most fans believed that Jericho would never dare compete in a promotion other than WWE in the United States, but the former world champion recently reversed his stance on that and has been teasing possibly joining Impact Wrestling in the near future. Few fans could have predicted that Jericho would appear at All In last weekend, but he shocked the wrestling world when he suddenly attacked Kenny Omega while disguised as Pentagon Jr and challenged him to a rematch during his cruise.
Given how loyal Jericho has been to Vince McMahon over the years, it is certainly interesting to see him branching out and wrestling elsewhere. Fans have been wondering if WWE knew that Jericho could be appearing at All In in advance, and according to PWInsider’s Elite Audio show, there is no indication that he gave WWE a heads up at all beforehand. It was noted during the show that several WWE officials were surprised to see Jericho appear at the event, and although the company was reportedly not too pleased to see him at All In, the feeling is that the door is still open for Jericho to appear in WWE and that if the company was worried about not being able to keep Jericho for themselves, then they would have rolled out an exclusive contract offer of some sort by now.
AJ Styles has been a full time, fighting champion ever since he won the WWE Championship late last year from Jinder Mahal. Styles has taken on the likes of Mahal, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Rusev over the past few months and he has been able to retain his title in every one of his defenses. Samoa Joe is currently proving to be a huge obstacle for Styles to overcome, and while “The Phenomenal One” could lose the title at Hell in a Cell later this month, Styles can take pride in knowing that he just reached a major championship milestone. Styles has now been holding SmackDown’s top title for over 300 days. Including his first WWE Championship reign, Styles has been a world champion in WWE for 442 days as of today.
