Westwood To Kick Off Opening Ceremony On October 20
Vivienne Westwood arrives in Shanghai, October 17
Running from October 20-27, the upcoming autumn installment of Shanghai Fashion Week will include one very high-profile Western fashion icon among the young local designers and more established domestic and international brands on show. According to organizers, Vivienne Westwood, whose first China boutique opened earlier this year in Beijing, will open the event on October 20 with a catwalk show. Also taking part in the opening ceremony will be the Chinese fashion brand NE-TIGER (previously on Jing Daily), whose founder Zhang Zhifeng is known for making bold statements like, “The only high-end Chinese brand is mine.”
Taking place at Fuxing Park, with the opening and closing ceremonies at the Shanghai International Fashion Center, events over the course of Shanghai Fashion Week will include shows by local talent like Judy Hua, Jenny Ji and Zhang Feng. Up-and-coming young designers will get their time in the spotlight as well, with shows by Guan Zixuan, Liao Xiaoling, Liu Qingyang, Gao Tao and others planned for the week.
Other events planned for the week include the traveling Eco-Chic world tour, sponsored by the Swedish Institute and showing at Bridge 8 from October 21-November 2; an international modeling competition; and a Shanghai Fashion Week photo retrospective, to be exhibited at malls like 353 Plaza, Metro City and the Golden Eagle International Shopping Center.
