India may have become developed in its urban areas, but the rural remote places are still below poverty line. Some places are so poor that people sometimes die of starvation or end up selling their babies.
In Odisha, a mother had to go through a horrifying experience by selling off her 11-day-old baby boy. The baby was sold Rs. 12,000 due to extreme poverty in the family. She is a residents of Banjari village on the outskirts of Jharsuguda town, police told The New Indian Express on Thursday.
