Speaking in a press conference earlier today, Lille President Gérard Lopez was asked about the transfer situation of Nicolas Pépé and responded by informing the press of a club policy around transfer talk.
“The way to manage the situation, is to put the dressing room of the club in a bubble. Yes, there have been several approaches for several players, not just for Nicolas. But we will not have a single meeting with clubs or agents (until the end of the season). Luis (Campos) and his team are doing hard work on the players we want to sign for next season, so it will be calm. The players have been identified, we have had talks with them. The players want to come, I do not think we will have competition to sign them. We are not used to, or at least very rarely, going after known names. If we are looking for a midfielder or a defender, we have several options. We are not scared of competition.”
