TWO MEMBERS OF the Munster backline that started last weekend’s win against Newport Gwent Dragons will be unavailable when they host Edinburgh in the Guinness Pro12 on Saturday afternoon [3.00pm].
Andrew Conway and Colm O’Shea will miss the visit of the Scottish side to Thomond Park after the province confirmed today that both players sustained concussions — and are therefore following the return-to-play protocols — during last Saturday’s game at Rodney Parade.
Keith Earls, who was a late withdrawal from the victory over the Dragons after complaining of a tight hamstring, will take part in rehab running this week.
Tommy O’Donnell continues to follow the return-to-play protocols after he was concussed against Cardiff Blues 11 days ago, Stephen Archer returns to full training today following a neck injury, while Peter O’Mahony [knee] and Rory Scannell [neck] will also be back in modified training this week.
There appears to be good news for Dave Foley, however. After initial concerns that he could be facing a lengthy lay-off due to an elbow injury, the 28-year-old lock received a positive update after a consultation with a specialist. However, Munster’s medical team are remaining cautious until they’re given a final report.
Simon Zebo [ribs], Kevin O’Byrne [elbow], Sammy Arnold [knee], Mark Chisholm [concussion], Sean McCarthy [knee], Francis Saili [shoulder] and Mike Sherry [back] are all continuing their rehabilitation.
