West Ham United have in the last 24 hours lodged a third and possibly final bid for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, as we reported they were preparing to do so already last week.
Admittedly, the offer has come in larger than we anticipated, with L’Équipe reporting that Lyon have received a £40m proposal from West Ham United for their French international striker.
Alexandre Lacazette has never been interested by the prospect of joining West Ham, but could be forced to move if Lyon President Jean Michel Aulas feels that the offer is too good to turn down.
Atletico Madrid, PSG and Tottenham Hotspur have all been in touch with the player’s entourage in recent months and can all offer the player what he really wants, Champions League football.

Les Parisiens appear very keen to do business especially, with Tottenham very much put off by the €50m price-tag that Aulas had placed on Lacazette’s head.
Although West Ham’s new proposal trumped the initial price-tag that was set last night, following the tumbling that the pound has taken in recent hours, the bid is now worth only €48.9m.
The plan from a Lyon perspective had been to hold on to Lacazette this summer, now that Samuel Umtiti is almost certainly going to join Barcelona for €30m and add-ons.
As usual, Jean Michel Aulas will have the crucial say. West Ham have done everything that they possibly can, that is for sure.
