Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda is in advanced discussions with Premier League side Crystal Palace, according to L’Équipe.
Alan Pardew’s side initially made an enquiry at the end of the 2014/15 season, but entered into formal talks recently, which have so far gone well.
Mandanda is currently closer to an exit from OM than ever before, having rejected a proposal from Besiktas in Turkey last January.
Villarreal have recently approached the player’s entourage, which is an interesting proposition for Mandanda, but he would have found himself in competition with Sergio Asenjo, and like Areola last season, his playing time would have been limited.
Mandanda has no intention of going anywhere where he is not assured first choice status.
Everton have also made an enquiry, without making a formal proposition to the player yet. That situation could change, if Koeman gives the go ahead.
Mandanda has dreamt of a move to the Premier League for years and although Crystal Palace was undoubtedly not his dream destination, he likes the idea of this challenge and has been assured that he would replace Wayne Hennessey.

After nine years at Marseille, Mandanda could be heading to London.
