FC Metz have announced that Portuguese midfielder Cafu has left the club to join up with Polish side Legia Warsaw on an 18-month loan deal.
After joining in the summer from Lorient following their relegation from Ligue 1, Cafu only imaged to play for Metz 13 times and clearly, for whatever reason, his move to Metz just didn’t work out. Now, after playing in both Portugal and France, he will attempt to help Warsaw win their thirteenth Polish League title alongside his former teammate Chris Philipps who only joined Legia a few weeks ago himself.
The 25-year-old central midfielder started his professional career in his homeland of Portugal, making 68 appearances for Vitoria Guimaraes SC and 24 appearances for Benfica B, but never made it into the first team. He then followed up his time with Benfica with a move north to France, starting with Lorient and then Metz, but now embarks on a new chapter in his career which might see him reinvent himself.
