Paris United report that PSG have now reached an agreement with Frenkie de Jong over personal terms.
The 21-year-old’s Dutch agent, who is due in Paris at the end of next week, has reached an agreement with the Ligue 1 champions’ board over a 5-year contract worth €8m a year.
On a similar level to Julian Draxler, the contract is structured as such that De Jong’s salary will increase year-on-year as a result of clauses including trophies won, matches played and individual prizes.
Does this mean De Jong’s arrival at PSG is imminent? Not yet. Ajax and PSG are still trying to hash out an agreement over the Dutchman’s transfer for a fee of around €75m.
Although PSG can afford such a deal, they want to do it within the confines of FFP.
Although Barcelona are still in the hunt for De Jong, the Catalan club’s Sporting Director Eric Abidal has a difficult relationship with key agent Ali Dursun, because of the commission that the latter is seeking in an eventual deal.
Antero Henrique is more experienced and better placed to successfully conclude these negotiations at the time of writing.
