L’Équipe report that Lyon are expecting to receive an opening bid from Barcelona in the coming hours for 26-year-old Dutch international winger Memphis Depay.
With 12 months remaining on his current contract and having just recovered from a major ACL injury, OL are hoping to extract a fee of €30m.
Despite Lionel Messi’s decision to remain with the Catalan club, new manager Ronald Koeman has made the signing of Depay a transfer window priority.
Speaking on Téléfoot Chaine last night, Lyon President Aulas mentioned that AS Roma were also in the race for the Dutchman’s signature, but it is currently unclear whether this was a mere negotiating tactic pointed at the Catalan giants or not.
The newspaper reports that FCB might be tempted to try to include Samuel Umtiti in the deal in exchange, but sources at Lyon don’t see how they would convince the Frenchman to return, both because of his own ambitions and also because of his elevated salary.
