Real Sociedad have this afternoon announced the signing of French youth international forward Mohamed Ali-Cho on a permanent deal from Angers.
The 18-year-old has signed a five-year deal with the Basques, leaving the Ligue 1 side after two seasons with the first team. This year, he had scored four goals in 32 appearances.
L’Équipe had reported earlier this week that the La Liga side had notably beaten out Marseille to the signature of the former Paris Saint-Germain and Everton youth player. Personal terms had already been previously agreed with the player after the clubs had reached an agreement in principle over the fee.
The transfer is said to be in the region of €12m to €15m, as the San Sebastián-based team also fended off the interest of Eintracht Frankfurt, Real Betis and Salzburg.
Cho has represented France as an U21 international in 7 appearances, having picked Les Bleus over England, for whom he was also eligible. At just 18, he already has 55 appearances as a professional and has emerged as one of France’s brightest attacking talents of his generation.
