Danny Care has put pen to paper on a contract extension with Harlequins ahead of the 2023/24 season.
He joined Harlequins from Leeds in 2006 and has become one of the club’s most capped players in their history.
Care delighted to stay on
At the age of 35, Care shows no sign of slowing down and says he is delighted to extend his career with the club.
“Pulling on the Quins jersey has been and continues to be one of the proudest parts of my career, and I’m delighted to sign on again with Harlequins,” Care told Harlequins’ official website.
“I’ve been with this club for the better part of two decades, and I cherish some incredible memories from the things we have achieved so far. The Challenge Cup win in 2011 and the Premiership titles in 2012 and 2021 are some of the highlights of my career, and I know this group is capable of creating moments of the same calibre.”
Harlequins backs coach Nick Evans dubbed Care ‘one of the all-time greats’ and said everyone at the club is thrilled to have him remain.
“It’s great to have Danny sign a new contract with the club. He is one of the all-time greats for Harlequins, and I know this news will come as a huge boost for our fantastic supporters,” the former flyhalf said.
“Danny is a leading figure within this squad, and whenever he is on the pitch, you can see his influence and input on how we play our brand of rugby.

“His return to the international scene earlier this year reflects just how hard he has continued to work over a nearly 20-year rugby career. His professionalism is second to none, and we are thrilled to have him recommit to the team.”
Care’s record
The 35-year-old has scored more tries in the Premiership (83) than any other scrum-half in the league’s history and is fifth overall for appearances (260).
He is closing on 350 appearances for Quins in all competitions – only Mike Brown has played more matches for the club – while he is just one of four players to have played over 300 times.
The serial try scorer is also the only Harlequin to score 100 times for the club. Only three players in Premiership rugby history have bettered Care’s tally of 83 tries in the tournament.
Care has racked up 87 caps for England since his debut in 2008, most recently representing his country in July against Australia.
He captained Quins between 2015 and 2017 and has won two Premiership titles with the Famous Quarters (2012 and 2021) and one Challenge Cup (2011).
