According to L’Équipe, Turkish defender Cenk Özkaçar (21) is set to leave Lyon in order to join newly promoted Serie A side Cremonese. The young centre-back, who made his international debut in this summer’s Nations League fixtures, joined OL in 2020 from Turkish club Altay SK for a fee of €1.5m.

However, since then, the young Turk has been on loan to Belgian side Leuven this season, where he featured heavily, missing just two league games. Despite his importance in the Belgian division, the defender was unable to make his mark at Lyon, where he only ever made a single appearance, coming in the Coupe de France against Monaco, when he came off the bench for the last ten minutes of a quarter-final.
Özkaçar’s departure would follow a flux of other defenders this summer, including Jason Denayer, whose contract with OL expired, Léo Dubois, who joined Galatasaray, and Emerson, who returned to Chelsea following the end of his loan.
