Honduran international and Bordeaux striker Alberth Elis (26) is nearing a loan move with a permanent option to relegation-battling side Brest, according to a report from Foot Mercato. The outlet adds that the seventeenth-place team have made a bid to their Aquitaine counterparts, with the terms of the deal almost agreed.
The wantaway Bordeaux man was close to a move with MLS side Los Angeles FC, with Les Girondins and the California-based team agreeing a €500k loan with a €5m mandatory purchase clause, but the striker failed to find an agreement on personal terms with LAFC. The player’s representatives affirmed that the verbal proposal made to them by LAFC did not match what was followed up in writing.
Elis’ arrival would be a welcome one for the Bretons. The Eric Roy-led side are in desperate need of a goalscorer, as the Finistère outfit have only found the net 19 times this Ligue 1 season. Brest were also in need of attacking options following the transfer of Irvin Cardona (25) to Bundesliga side Augsburg.
