According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, former WWE UK Champion Tyler Bate is currently out of action with a minor knee injury.
The Observer furthers that original plans called for Bate to team up with fellow WWE UK star Trent Seven, and the two were set to compete in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
However, following Bate’s injury, plans were changed, and WWE went with the team of Roderick Strong and Pete Dunne instead.
As noted, The Street Profits scored an upset victory over Heavy Machinery on this week’s edition of NXT that will advance them to the quarterfinals round of the Dusty Classic, and they will be joined by Eric Young and Killian Dain, after SAnitY defeated Riddick Moss and Tino Sabbatelli.
Bate’s injury is not the only NXT talent injury to force Dusty Classic changes, as we recently reported that Bobby Fish’s injury will render him unable to defend the NXT Tag Team Titles at Takeover New Orleans, along with Kyle O’Reilly, against the Dusty Classic winners. Adam Cole is expected to replace Fish in the match, taking place the night before WrestleMania 34.
