As noted, WWE Champion Jinder Mahal officially challenged WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar to a match at WWE Survivor Series this past Tuesday night on Smackdown Live. Lesnar will be appearing on Raw next Monday night to address the challenge, and the non-title match is expected to be made official at that time.
According to The Wrestling Observer, Lesnar vs Mahal is a match which has been discussed in WWE for quite sometime, with the likelihood of more Raw vs Smackdown inter-brand matches being added to the Survivor Series card.
With the above being said, however, The Observer notes WWE is not viewing Lesnar vs Mahal as a major match, and it’s more likely being booked just to give Lesnar something to do at one of the ‘big 4’ PPV events. The bout will likely be used to help build towards future opponents for The Beast.
During a recent interview, Finn Balor claimed once he is done with Bray Wyatt that he is going after Brock Lesnar and the Universal Title which he never lost. The Observer notes a likely opponent for Lesnar at Royal Rumble next year is Balor, with Lesnar then moving on to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 34.
As for the finish of Lesnar vs Mahal at Survivor Series, some kind of DQ finish is likely, as neither man can really afford to lose to the other clean at the PPV.
