New Japan Pro Wrestling ran their annual Wrestle Kingdom 12 event from the world famous Tokyo Dome this week, headlined by a double main event, the first of which saw Kenny Omega defeat Chris Jericho in a brutal No Disqualification match. Kazuchika Okada also retained the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against G1 Climax winner and Los Ingobernables leader Tetsuya Naito, several major titles changed hands including the Young Bucks record-retaining seventh reign, and more.
The following night NJPW ran their annual New Year Dash show (similar to the “Raw After WrestleMania) that set up some major angles for the next few months.
