UFC fighter Mark Hunt, who lost his fight to Brock Lesnar at UFC 200, only to have the decision overturned when Lesnar failed USADA drug tests related to the fight, recently appeared on Submission Radio ahead of his main event fight at UFC Moscow. You can watch the entire interview in the above video player, and below are some highlights.
Reaction when Brock Lesnar got the title shot against DC:
“Well, why do we have ranking for? And it is what it, is man. That’s not my call, that’s just the way it is. I think it’s shit though.”
On his own fight with Lesnar being controversial and if Hunt thinks Lesnar has a chance against Daniel Cormier:
“How’s that work? The motherfucker’s a cheater. How is that controversy? Fucken little cunt is fucken cheating, using steroids. Fuck, man, how is that – (you’re) talking ‘a little bit of controversy?’ The fucking guy is cheating.”
“He’s cheating and trying to hurt me and you say, ‘oh, we’re going to be nice here’. Fuck that cheater. How are you gonna be nice to the guy that is taking shortcuts, man? Don’t give him that. Why would you want to give him that sort of shit? Fuck, they don’t deserve it. You know, all these guys are just shortcut takers, and to me that’s all they’ll ever be. Nothing else.”
On Dana White saying they’d look to resign Mark Hunt and if he’d consider it:

“Like I said, I didn’t want a lawsuit or a court case against any of these (guys). I said to Dana already about the shit, you know, take that motherfucker’s money off him. Don’t give it to me, just take it off the cunt so he doesn’t get nothing. But he wouldn’t have it, so that’s why we’re here now. And with this lawsuit, all I’ve been trying to do is make it an even playing field. It’s not even these guys, these guys are cheating flat out and they’re still getting these opportunities. Why? Honestly?”
“I know the reason why, but fuck it. I’m not gonna sit around and play with then and get fucking injured. Like I said, I got injuries already from fighting from guys that have been cheating. And you’re never the same when you get injured like that. I mean, look at my hand. It’s broken, it’s got 16 screws in it. I’m not as strong in this hand. It just affects you, especially this body being my livelihood.”

On if his broken hand has affected his fighting:
“It’s not as strong as (it used to be). I hit something small and it hurts. It’s never the same again. You get injuries like this and it just changes you. And that’s just the way it is with fighting. Like, I mean, you think an injury like that’s ever gonna be the same? No. I’ve had to have another operation. Of course it changes you. You’re not the same person when you get these like this, when shit like this happens.”
Why take a fight all the way in Russia:
“I love competing, I love fighting. I mean, I love it that it’s opening a new market. The Russian fans and people can see me. I mean, I wanted even before this fight, before I fought Curtis and lost to Curtis I wanted someone higher. I said to myself, it’s a good opportunity again, I can open another market, and it’s gets me closer to finishing my contract. Which is good. I’m not getting a top five guy or anything. I’ve gone from number five or six to number eight. Derrick Lewis, the guy I beat, he’s number two, I’m like, I can’t catch a break here. I know I fucked up when I lost to Curtis, but it is what it is. So me getting back in there and competing is great. That’s why I said yes to Russia. And the fucken tax man doesn’t stop calling.”
On fighting Aleksei Oleinik:
“Well, I didn’t know much about Aleksei. He did call me out a while ago. I have met him a couple of times, he’s actually a nice guy. I know about his Ezekiel choke. You know, we worked on that, on everything. On my fighting, my guard, my stand-up. So like I said, evolution makes you a better person. If you don’t learn from the same mistakes or someone else’s, then you’re still gonna be losing. So, I look forward to dancing with Aleksei. He’s a nice guy.”
On welcoming Aleksei’s ground game like he’s done with Werdum and Struve in the past:
“Well, I’m not going to try to take it to where his game is. Like I said, my game plan is simple and it’s always been simple. I train for everything, prepare for the worst. But my game plan is to just go, knock his face off. And how that works is just knowing what he’s trying to do. So he knows what I’m gonna do, you know, it’s just a matter if he can stop it (laughs).”
On his plan to fight at UFC Adelaide if he wins quickly in Moscow:
“After this match I said to Zen if can get a match on the Adelaide card or anywhere or get another match as soon as possible if I’m not injured and then go from there.”
“Yeah, I hope so, I hope so. I already spoke to (my manager) Zen and said I’d like to get a match if I’m not injured as soon as possible. And if it’s Adelaide, then so be it. Yeah, I look forward to it. It’d be great. And it’s just three rounds anyway. You know me (laughs).”
“I get to fight the same card as Tai on the undercard also. It’d be great. It’d be a good send off.”
“It would be me and Dan (Kelly’s) retirement fight, which is great, you know, fighting at home”
If Mark Hunt would really retire from fighting in Adelaide:
“It would be my last fight with the UFC. So, it’d be great. I don’t know about retiring per se. It’d be finishing from the big time. And, you know, I wanna fight three more times globally or four. We’ll see what happens for the division and chasing (the belt). That cut that dream off. So, you know, that’s how it works, but who knows? Maybe (I’ll) retire with Dan Kelly. It’d be fun (laughs).”
Prediction for UFC Moscow:
“Well try (to knock him out in), like I said, first round, second round, third round, fifth round. I think hopefully (in the) first round I can put him out. But I don’t know. A slip right hand with a left hook? Who knows? (I might win) with something like that. I think Aleksei likes to come forward a lot and we’ll catch him with something like that. We’ll try, well I’ll try.”
On Tai Tuivasa fighting Junior dos Santos in Adelaide and possibly avenging Mark Hunt’s 2013 loss to Junior:
“I was happy that Tai took the top spot for Adelaide and he’s rematching somebody that I lost to. I think Tai’s gonna put JDS out. USADA’s changing a lot of fighter’s physiques and their mentalities. So now the change of guard and the new breed’s coming through. I think a lot of the fighters are different from the guys I danced with. He’s a lot different from when I danced with him, but I think Tai’s gonna put him out and move on towards the top end. Which is good news, because there’s pretty much… I can’t see anyone else apart from Tai from down under as a heavyweight and being as young as Tai. So that’s good news.”
