According to a report by PWInsider.com, Brian ‘Road Dogg’ James has handed in his resignation as the Head Writer on SmackDown Live this week.
The report states that the new WWE Hall Of Fame informed the company yesterday that he would be stepping down as the co-lead writer for the blue brand, which he had been heading up with Stephen Guerrieri.
Sources have cited James’ growing frustrations with changes made to the script at the last minute by Vince McMahon as the main reason for his decision, with James reportedly hitting a “breaking point” this past Tuesday.
There hasn’t been any word on who might replace James in that role just yet, although WWE sources have stated it is more of a formality rather than a specific voice in charge of the show. There has also been no confirmation if James will transition into a new role or if he will be leaving the company completely.
Sources cited James’ increasing frustration with changes made to the Smackdown scripting by Vince McMahon with James finally hitting a “breaking point” at this past Tuesday’s Smackdown taping in Brooklyn, NY.
