Professional wrestling’s Cult of Personality has returned to WWE.
CM Punk made a surprise appearance in the closing moments of tonight’s episode of WWE Backstage, revealed as the newest addition to the show’s all-star team of analysts. According to the WWE on FOX Twitter account, the former world champion will be making “periodic appearances” on the FS1 series, beginning next Tuesday night.
The so-called “Second City Saint” has not been seen in a WWE ring since leaving the company in early 2014. It was reported last month that Punk had met with FOX officials about a position on the show, but when last week’s official premiere came and went, many assumed talks had simply fallen through.
“Just when they think they have all the answers, I change the culture!”, explained Punk, backed up by his new WWE Backstage colleagues Renee Young and WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, as well as Paige, Christian, Samoa Joe and NXT Champion Adam Cole.
