TNA World Heavyweight Championship
(Triple-Threat Steel Cage Match)
– Eric Young (c) vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Austin Aries
The video package airs showing the highlight of Eric Young shockingly winning the TNA World Heavyweight Championship and then all of the events that led to tonight’s triple-threat steel cage main event at Slammiversary.
After the video package, with the lights dimmed, we see a glimpse of the ring covered in a steel cage, as Mike Tenay and Taz run down how Bobby Lashley and Austin Aries advanced to this match with wins over Samoa Joe and Kenny King, respectively, earlier tonight.
Out first for tonight’s main event is Austin Aries. Aries makes his way into the cage. Out next is the other challenger to the title tonight, Bobby Lashley. Finally, the reigning TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Eric Young, makes his way to the steel cage. The bell rings and it’s time for our pay-per-view main event of the evening. Triple-threat action for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.
All three guys go at it as soon as this one is made official. Lashley appears to be in control of the smaller opposition here in the early goings.
The match is back-and-forth for a while until it builds to a mega-spot with Aries hitting a huricanrana off the top rope onto Lashley. The two crash down to the mat. Young, who is seated on top of the cage, does a giant splash off of the cage onto Lashley. The crowd, which was hot already, is exploding now with “this is awesome” chants.
Lashley goes for the spear on Young out of the blue, but Young moved and Lashley ended up spearing his way through an entire steel cage wall on one side, landing through it and on the floor. Back in the ring, Young goes for a pin on Aries but only gets two.
The Dallas fans are coming alive as Young calls for the piledriver. He isn’t able to hit it due to a distraction. Aries hits a full-speed corner dropkick on Young. He goes for the Brainbuster but E.Y. reverses it into a piledriver out of nowhere. 1-2-3. Young wins and retains.
Winner and STILL TNA World Heavyweight Champion: Eric Young
