WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross recently updated his official blog at JRsBarBQ.com with his latest comments on his upcoming announcing gigs, the build to Shane McMahon vs. The Undertaker and more. Below are some of the highlights.
On his new boxing announcing gig:
“Excited to be included in the CBS Sports Net presentation of Knockout Night at The D in Las Vegas commencing with our first broadcast on Saturday night March 12. Getting to broadcast with Boxing Hall of Famer Al Bernstein and the Flushing Flash Kevin Kelly will be terrific. CBS and the promoters are planning on initiating several new, nuances for the TV viewers to experience. I can’t wait t get back at ringside and to call some live action inside the squared circle. I hope that you will give our new, show and this broadcast team a look beginning on Saturday might March 12.”
On his new NJPW On AXS TV announcing gig:
“This Friday night on AXSTV will be not only my first New Japan Pro Wrestling show with @JoshLBarnett but it will also see yours truly on Voice Versus with Michael Schiavello. I taped the Voice Versus Tuesday night in Vegas at Caesars Palace in the same suite that was occupied recently by Johnny Depp and that allegedly Justin Bieber spent his 21st birthday. The suite at the Nobu Hotel inside Caesar’s is 10,500 square feet and was more than amazing. The opulent space rents for $35K per night. The Aussie ws armed and prepared in a big way for our sit down and we covered many somewhat controversial topics that will likely have some going into business for themselves with their own rendition of what “JR really means.” The interview is edgy and will be a conspiracy theorists dream. (Said with tongue in cheek.)”
AXS has me booked for 33 phoners next week with a wide array of media outlets through out North America to promote the NJPW TV project, Voice Versus, and the @FITE TV app. NJPW on AXSTV airs every Friday night at 9 pm ET/8CT. I hope that you will check out our AXSTV shows and circle Friday night March 4 on your calendars. AXSTV is available on DirecTV channel 340, on Dish Network on channel 162 and on some cable outlets. Check your local listings and try to join us if you can.”
On the Shane McMahon vs. Undertaker angle:
“We’re being deluged here on the site and elsewhere including Twitter @JRsBBQ with questions on Shane McMahon’s return to the WWE that many witnessed last Monday night on RAW. Shane’s return was one of the most emotional moments that has been featured on RAW in years. Being asked to cast judgment on this storyline is borderline incredible and I simply have chosen to wait and see how this matter plays out before joining the maddening throng of fans who have either already declared it a failure of the best thing ever.
This Monday’s RAW with Undertaker scheduled to be on the broadcast to ostensibly answer the challenge will add significantly to this storyline and perhaps clear up the matter for some fans who seemingly have everything figured out regarding it.
At first brush, I have zero issues with this booking and look forward to seeing how the creative is crafted between now and April 3 in Texas. It’s easy to see that this pairing offers up potentially multiple, viable storyline elements that could make it a hot and eagerly anticipated presentation come Wrestlemania Texas. I think that it’s great that Shane’s three sons will be able to see their Dad step in the ring at WM32.”
