The elections commission said Tuesday afternoon that it made a calculation error when it provided its estimate.
The commission originally quoted Stein $3.5 million, a calculation that was about $400,000 short, according to an ABC affiliate in Green Bay.
A judge in Dane County will also consider Tuesday whether or not to order a hand recount of ballots. Election officials rejected Stein’s request to have votes recounted by hand Monday.
Stein has raised nearly $6.5 million to fund recounts in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan. She submitted the recount filing in Pennsylvania Monday.
