BURNSVILLE, Minn. — The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced today that Southwest Minnesota State University senior Cole Wilson was named to the All-NSIC second team.
Cole Wilson, a native of Faribault, Minn., finished the season 32-8 at 285 pounds and 103-career victories, which ranks tied for seventh in team history. Wilson qualified for his third consecutive NCAA Division II national tournament with a fourth-place finish at the 2016 NCAA Super Region III Tournament and finished the championships in eighth place to garner All-American honors. This is the third All-NSIC second team selection for Wilson as he was named to the honor the past two seasons.
Wilson earned NSIC Wrestler of the Week and Super Region III Wrestler of the Week twice this past season on Jan. 25 and Feb. 8 after finishing the weekends 2-0. The senior also named National Wrestler of the Week by D2Wrestle.com on Feb. 11 after a pair of wins over two regional ranked foes, including an upset of the country’s No. 1 wrestler from SCSU.

St. Cloud State took all three conference awards as Clint Poster was named NSIC Wrestler of the Year, while Brett Velasquez was named NSIC Rookie of the Year. Head SCSU wrestling coach, Steve Costanzo was NSIC Coach of the Year.
Southwest Minnesota State University finished the season 8-11 overall and 4-4 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
