Smackdown Intergender Match, Less PPV in 2018, Diddy/Brother Love

Becky Lynch and James Ellsworth have not been on the best terms as of late. Becky injured Ellsworth at Wrestlemania 33 earlier this year, Ellsworth cost Becky a shot at winning the Money in the Bank briefcase, and the two just recently had a huge back and fourth social media battle. It has been announced that Becky Lynch and James Ellsworth will face each other in a rare intergender match on Smackdown tonight. WWE is working hard to make sure that Smackdown is a memorable show tonight, especially since it will be headlined by a WWE Championship match between Jinder Mahal and AJ Styles with the winner receiving the title and a chance to face Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series.

WWE has added more and more pay-per-views every single year for a while now, and when the brand split returned, even more shows were added. Some fans have remarked that the company has been putting on too many pay-per-views as of late. The Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer recently stated that WWE is planning on reducing the number of pay-per-views in 2018. Meltzer says that the company is looking at doing away with having two pay-per-views per month for both brands, and that it will start immediately in January. At this moment, Survivor Series and Smackdown’s Clash of Champions are the only pay-per-views remaining in 2017.

Sean Combs (famously known as Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, and Diddy) recently announced that he would be changing his stage name to Brother Love. Diddy stated in a video posted on Instagram that he will not be changing his name after all. “I didn’t change my name. It’s just part of one of my alter egos. One of my alter egos is love. But to set the record straight, because I have a lot of press to do the next couple of weeks, you can address me by any of my older names. But if you still want to call me love, you can call me love.” Combs said in the video. The new name drew criticism from wrestling fans since Bruce Prichard created and portrayed a character of the same name on WWF television back in the day.
