For the first time since vacating the United States Championship, Rey Mysterio will be returning to WWE television.
WWE has announced that Mysterio will be appearing on Raw this coming Monday (July 8). Mysterio vacated the US title to Samoa Joe on the June 3 edition of Raw, with Joe then losing the title to Ricochet at Stomping Grounds.
Mysterio suffered a separated shoulder when he defeated Joe at Money in the Bank in May. Early July had been targeted for Mysterio’s return.
Monday’s Raw is taking place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. It’s the go-home show for Extreme Rules, and WWE has announced two tag matches for the episode. Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch will team against Andrade & Zelina Vega. Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre will take on Roman Reigns and a partner of Shane’s choosing.
The tag match with Shane, McIntyre, and Reigns has a stipulation where The Undertaker will be removed from Extreme Rules if he interferes. Shane & McIntyre vs. Reigns & Undertaker in a no holds barred match is set for the pay-per-view.
