Approximately 350 people attended last night’s MLW tapings at GILT Nightclub in Orlando.
– Mike Parrow defeated Vandal Ortagun
Colonel Rob Parker watched on as Parrow won with a powerbomb.
– Jimmy Havoc called out Joey Janela for their match and they brawled off into the crowd.
– A promo by Low Ki was about to be interrupted by MVP, but Sami Callihan attacked MVP from behind to set up their match later.
– “Filthy” Tom Lawlor and Team Filthy came out, with Lawlor saying he’s not medically cleared and Simon Gotch will take his place against ACH.
– ACH defeated Simon Gotch (w/ “Filthy” Tom Lawlor)
ACH won with a roll-through pin before being attacked and left laying by Team Filthy.
– Trey Miguel defeated Kotto Brazil
A meteora by Miguel ended this.
– The Dirty Blondes (w/ Colonel Rob Parker) defeated Team TBD (Jason Cade & Jimmy Yuta) in an elimination tag match
Yuta was pinned first, which left Cade alone with both Dirty Blondes. He was able to pin one of them to bring it to a singles bout, but a distraction by Parker allowed the Blondes to hit a double team spinebuster and take the match.
Parker announced that Jake Hager (the former Jack Swagger) has joined his Stud Stable and will be here at the next show.
– MJF defeated Fred Yehi
There was good wrestling until MJF used the referee for a shield and then held the tights for the victory.
– Pentagon Jr. defeated Fenix in a number one contender’s match
Excellent match. Fenix did rope work and springboards, with Pentagon using chops and winning it with a package piledriver. The crowd loved this one.
– Santana Garrett defeated Aerial Monroe
Monroe showed impressive power here, but Garrett hit the Shining Star Press to win it.
– Sami Callihan defeated MVP
Leon Scott interfered late in this brawl to help Callihan win a wild one.
– Jimmy Havoc defeated Joey Janela (w/ Aria Blake)
A violent and crazy match with tables, chairs, a door, and all types of weapon shots. Havoc won with an Acid Rainmaker after putting Janela through the door in the corner.
– Filthy Tom Lawlor defeated ACH
Team Filthy caused just enough of a distraction to allow Lawlor to hit ACH with his wrapped up arm and apply a choke.
– Shane Strickland defeated Matt Riddle to become the new MLW World Heavyweight Champion
This was the best match since MLW has been rebooted. The crowd was split all the way through, but Strickland had more sympathy as Riddle was devastating him with kicks and power moves. Strickland worked over Riddle’s left arm throughout and did his Swerve stomps and various kicks.
Riddle seemingly was on his way to winning with multiple knee strikes and a powerbomb, but Strickland overcame everything, did the Pentagon arm break move, and hit a driver to win it.
The crowd celebrated and confetti fell as the new champion was crowned.
