It’s been highly rumored for a while now that top independent wrestlers such as Ricochet and War Machine are expected to join WWE very soon. However, it sounds like a major star is set to join the women’s division in WWE. It was reported a few weeks back that independent wrestling sensation and former Mae Young Classic competitor Candice LeRae had entered negotiations to sign with WWE. Just a few days later, Squared Circle Sirens has reported that LeRae has indeed signed a contract with WWE at last. LeRae has reportedly signed a developmental deal with the company and she will be reporting to the Performance Center very soon.
Chris Jericho is sticking around in New Japan Pro Wrestling, effectively killing off all of the speculation that he may be returning to WWE in the Royal Rumble match or at WrestleMania 34. It appears as though his Wrestle Kingdom 12 opponent, Kenny Omega, has chosen to do the same. Dave Meltzer recently confirmed in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Kenny Omega has re-signed with NJPW for another year. In addition to being the current IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion, Omega has also been confirmed for ‘All In’ show in September. It is believed that Omega will be starting a feud with fellow Bullet Club member Cody Rhodes very soon.
With the Royal Rumble approaching quickly, that means that WWE will also likely be revealing the first inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame very soon. There have been numerous reports that have claimed that former WCW and WWE star Goldberg will be headlining this year’s class of entrants. Those reports appear to be accurate as Dave Meltzer backed them up in the most recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Expect the announcement confirming the former WCW Champion for the Hall of Fame to occur at some point soon, possibly at the Royal Rumble or on the 25th anniversary of Raw on January 22nd.
