January 29, Glastonbury, CT ÛÒ
On the heels of announcing the new Mystic Half Marathon and 10K,
the Hartford Marathon Foundation (HMF) unveiled the new Triple Half
Challenge program to bring runners to three destination races in the
state of Connecticut. In addition to the Mystic Half Marathon on May
31, Challenge events include the Harvard Pilgrim Middletown Half
Marathon on April 12 and the NU Hartford Marathon on October 10.
Participants who register for the Triple Half Challenge will earn an
exclusive jacket, finisherÛªs medal and can get discounted entry to the
three events. Registration for the program is available through any one
of the participating eventsÛª registration pages on www.hartfordmarathon.com.
ÛÏThe
addition of the Mystic event creates the perfect race trifecta to
provide Triple Half Challenge participants the best in a very wide
variety of race course experiences,Û said Beth Shluger, CEO/Executive
Director and Founder of the Hartford Marathon Foundation. ÛÏWe are
excited to give our runners incentive and perks to keep running and fit
through the year.Û
After
a successful inaugural event last year, the Harvard Pilgrim Middletown
Half Marathon again begins and ends in the heart of the city. The
course takes runners through the Wesleyan University community and its
beautiful rolling hills out to Wadsworth Falls State Park before turning
back onto Main Street.
The
new Mystic Half Marathon, which benefits the charitable works of the
Rotary Club of Mystic, begins and ends in quaint Olde Mistick
Village. Runners will enjoy the serene waterfront of Mystic Seaport and
the historic community before heading out through classic New England
country roads. New training programs have been added to the
FoundationÛªs offerings to cater to runners in southeast and central
Connecticut. A Groton-based training group begins Saturday, March 21st, with discounts available for local residents. The Glastonbury-based group will kick off training on Saturday, March 7th. For more details and to register, visit http://www.hartfordmarathon.com/Training/Training_Programs.htm
The
Triple Half Challenge will wrap up with the FoundationÛªs signature
annual event at the NU Hartford Marathon and Half Marathon. Kicking off
in front of the steps of the Capitol in Hartford, half marathoners will
travel through the city and out to West Hartford through Elizabeth Park
and past historic buildings before heading back downtown and through
the iconic Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch at the finish line.
