The next time you come across road-works on a highway, don’t be surprised if you see a robot directing traffic. Yes, this isn’t a figment of our imagination, but a reality.
Some road construction companies have started using this flagmen robot and if ministry for highways has its way, the trend may soon become a norm. According to a report in Business Standard, the flagmen robot is an automated human skeleton structure made up of plastic and it mounts over a stand or a steel frame.

Road construction companies believe that it will cut down on both labour cost and cost of human lives. At least, two road construction companies – Ashoka Buildcon and IL&FS Transportation Networks (ITNL) are using robots to maintain traffic at some of their road construction sites.
