Boom Brothers young gun Harry Wilson is one of three signings expected to be unveiled by the Reds this morning.
Wilson boasts enormous potential as a big bodied backrower who has already taken a step from schoolboy star to Premier Grade force.
He was a regular in Brothers’ Premier Grade side this season and earned Queensland’s U19 player of the year gong en route to a regular role among Queensland Country’s season.
He will be named in the 23 which hosts the Force on Sunday and at just 18 years of age the sky really is the limit.
An Australian Schoolboy representative out of Gregory Terrace, Wilson has caught the eye at every level with the line bending runs and big hits required to make an impact at Super Rugby level.
Earning a Reds debut in 2019 is not beyond him but it’s understood he has signed through until the end of 2020.
He’ll be competing with Scott Higginbotham, Caleb Timu, Adam Korczyk, Liam Wright and Angus Scott-Young for minutes but will prove an invaluable asset off the pine.
While there isn’t quite the same boom on hooker Efi Maafu he is similarly talented and every chance of making an impact in 2019 as well.
The star Wests hooker was a member of Country’s premiership campaign last season and has featured for the Junior Wallabies through the past two years as well.
Brandon Paenga-Amosa was coach Brad Thorn’s go to man this year but with Andrew Ready no longer at the club and Alex Mafi yet to make a significant impact Maafu will get his chance at some point next year.
Eadie’s light frame caught the eye as a standout schoolboy alongside Wilson at Terrace and he has pace to burn.
He had a stellar Premier Colts season for University and will provide depth to an outside backs department which has looked a touch thin in recent years.
Both Maafu and Eadie are believed to have signed one year deals.
