Shanghai Fashion Week is back, officially kicking off yesterday with shows by the multi-label boutique SEVENDAYS, local superstar Uma Wang and Japanese designer Atsutot Ayama. Running through October 25, this year fashion week is possibly bigger than ever, with sponsors like Starbucks, Grey Goose and Swatch, international brands like Sweden’s ODEUR taking part, and some of China’s top models — including Liu Wen and Xi Mengyao — treading the runways. This year the local participants are looking strong as well, with Shanghainese designers like Jenny Ji (recently seen at Paris Fashion Week), Judy Hua, Simon Wang and Keeven Zhai putting on runway shows as the week goes on.
The Jing Daily team is taking part in this year’s Shanghai Fashion Week, attending events by Dutch fashion designers this weekend. Keep an eye out for our exclusive coverage of these events on Monday, October 25.
So what should we keep an eye on in this installment of Shanghai Fashion Week? Here’s Jing Daily’s list of expected highlights:

– Taiwanese runway show at Fuxing Park (Saturday, October 23, 8 pm): Collective show for young Taiwanese designers like Pan Daili, Xu Qiuyi and Hu Yajun
– Judy Hua 2011 S/S runway show at Shanghai International Fashion Center (Sunday, October 24, 7 pm): Hua’s silk-heavy designs evoke the electricity of Old Shanghai without succumbing to tired cliches or looking too much at the past.

– Mexican Luxury Fashion Show at Shanghai International Fashion Center (Monday, October 25, 7 pm)
