Latest Installment Of Collection Includes Qiu Hao & Masha Ma
Vogue Talents Corner, featuring Masha Ma and Qiu Hao
Announced by Vogue China and the Yoox-owned e-commerce site thecorner.com.cn this week during the celebration of the fashion bible’s seventh year in mainland China, the latest installment of thecorner’s “Vogue Talents Corner” includes young Chinese designers Qiu Hao and Masha Ma.
Coming one year after the thecorner.com.cn and Vogue included five Chinese designers — Christine Lau, Riko Manchit Au, Shangguan Jie, Uma Wang, and Zou You — in a special capsule section, the announcement comes on the heels of another recent move by Yoox, which launched its Chinese-language site last month.
The dedicated Vogue Talents Corner section on thecorner.com.cn will exclusively stock Qiu Hao and Masha Ma’s A/W 2012 collections.
As Ma pointed out at the event, inclusion in this installment reflects one of the major benefits of linking up with major e-tailers, from the perspective of an emerging designer. Said Ma, “Partnering with an e-commerce platform means that we, as designers, don’t have to worry about paying rent on a store or managing a lot of items, so we can focus more on our own work instead of marketing.”
Both Qiu Hao and Masha Ma have contributed 28 items for their online collections. Ranging from gloves to cocktail dresses, Ma’s collection ranges in price from 1,950 yuan (US$312) to 7,250 yuan ($1,162), while Qiu’s collection ranges from 1,180 yuan ($189) for a long-sleeved short dress to 7,200 yuan ($1,154) for a cloak.
