This week, the Guangzhou-born, Hong Kong-bred and New York-based fashion designer Vivienne Tam unveiled her latest creation: a one-of-a-kind suite at Hong Kong’s Hotel Icon. Taking up 861 square feet, the Hotel Icon suite is fully decked out in Tam’s signature “China Chic” style, with splashes of vivid color and a trademark East-meets-West vibe.
At once luxurious and surprisingly minimalist, with a stunning view of the Hong Kong skyline, the 861 square foot suite at Hotel Icon in Tsim Sha Tsui is Tam’s first step into the world of interior design.
From WWD:
In addition to her new hotel suite, this year Tam is hard at work preparing the launch of her new location in Hong Kong, set to open at the new Causeway Bay shopping mall Hysan Place in August. Looking at the broader picture, Tam told WWD this week that she plans to expand further in Hong Kong as well as mainland China, and potentially into South Korea and Taiwan. As for her future interior design plans, Tam has expressed hopes to spin off Vivienne Tam Home as its own brand some time in the future. Considering many wealthy mainland Chinese are spending lavishly to fill their apartments and villas with designer brands such as Armani/Casa and Hermès Home, Tam’s possible interior line may just find a very receptive audience in the land of her birth.
