Diane Von Furstenberg’s First Beijing Location And ESCADA’s First New Concept Store In Shanghai Among Recent Openings
A roundup of recent luxury store openings in China:
Diane Von Furstenberg’s First DVF Store Launches In Beijing
Last week, Diane Von Furstenberg was in Beijing to open her inaugural DVF location in the Chinese capital — which she referred to at the opening as “the capital of the future.” According to China Fashion Trends, the Beijing DVF boutique is made up of two diamond-shaped rooms, “accentuated by a dimensional DVF signature print,” and features terrazzo floors and a kaleidoscope of mirrored dots embedded in the Venetian stucco ceilings, which together combine to imbue the store with DVF’s trademark “feminine glow.” Following the growing trend we’re seeing among some of the world’s top luxury brands in China, the boutique will carry the full range of DVF products.

ESCADA’s First New Concept Store At Shanghai IFC
ESCADA board president Megha Mittal and Global CEO and Vice Chairman Bruno Sälzer recently joined Chinese celebrity Huang Shengyi for a ribbon cutting at the German luxury brand’s first new concept store at Shanghai IFC. Designed as a comfortable retreat from the bustling city streets, ESCADA’s new concept store at Shanghai IFC features black brick walls with a golden wood finish, echoing the color scheme of the brand logo. To fit with the concept of being both “luxurious and leisurely,” the store incorporates elements such as modern crystal chandeliers, a plush carpeted seating area, and subtle ornamental features including vases and sculptural touches.

Moschino At Shin Kong Place In Beijing
DVF wasn’t the only high-end store to debut at Shin Kong Place in Beijing. Recently the Italian luxury brand Moschino kicked off its newest China location with a ribbon-cutting and VIP reception on the third floor. The opening also included a pre-showing of 10 designs from the 2011 Moschino Cheap and Chic spring collection, attended by celebrities like the Taiwanese supermodel Bai Xinhui.
Injecting a little fun into the event, at the boutique Moschino set up four themed mini-exhibitions, “Giant Dressy Elephant,” “Melting Building & Furniture,” “Fashionable Crawling Ants,” and “Not Quite a Fairy Tale,” which were designed and flown in from Italy.

Porsche Design Targets Up-And-Coming Qingdao
Recently Qingdao saw the opening of its first Porsche Design store — the 11th regional location in China — attended by Porsche Design Group CEO Juergen Gessler and Taiwanese model Gao Yixiang. The 144 square meter carries a full range of Porsche Design products, including luggage, glasses, apparel, watches, jewelry, smoking accessories, and writing implements. As Juergen Gessler told local media at the grand opening, Porsche is planning a huge nationwide expansion in coming months.
Said Gessler, “The Chinese market is very important to our brand. With the opening of the Qingdao location, we now have 11 regional outlets throughout China, and in the next few months we’ll open even more locations. I sincerely look forward to Porsche Design’s success in the Chinese market, because China is undoubtedly one of the fastest-growing luxury markets in the world.”
