HK-Based Department Store Recently Hosted Phillip Lim Event In Beijing
High-end department stores like Lane Crawford are thriving in cities like Beijing
This week, the Hong Kong-based retailer Lane Crawford announced plans to open three new locations in mainland China by the end of 2014. According to new Lane Crawford head Andrew Keith, the company hopes to open a massive 150,000 square foot flagship store in Shanghai by the summer of 2012, with an additional store planned for Beijing and one in luxury hotbed Chengdu by the end of 2014.
Lane Crawford has established a firm foothold in the Beijing market since opening at the capital’s Seasons Place mall in 2007. In addition to stocking brands and designers not typically found at Chinese department stores, Lane Crawford has become something of a place to see and be seen in Beijing, regularly holding events like its recent Winter Soiree and the launch of Phillip Lim’s “4 x 3.1” project.
