“Winter Garden” Supported By Swarovski Collective
Following her recent appearance at Paris Fashion Week, showing alongside heavy hitters like Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, and Elie Saab, Masha Ma — one of Jing Daily’s favorite young Chinese designers — continues to see her reputation grow worldwide. In recent years, Ma has become a sartorial sensation, attracting the attention of publications such as Vogue, ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire and L’Officiel.
Following her inclusion in thecorner’s “Vogue Talents Corner,” last November, Ma’s newest collection, shown at Paris Fashion Week, was supported by the Swarovski Collective, which has assisted over 150 fashion talents since its inception in 1999.
Incorporating Swarovski crystals into her chilly new collection, “Winter Garden,” Ma created a fantastical yet well-tailored line inspired by the poetry of Spanish poet and Nobel laureate Juan Ramón Jiménez and the garden of Kyoto’s Ryōan-ji temple blanketed in winter snow. A pleasant change from Ma’s signature use of stark monochrome, this season’s collection drew from a palette of “blues from midnight insignia to skyway, ice flow grey, caviar black, a touch of sea grass and dark olive… moonlight silver and pearl,” augmented by laser-cut crystals that encrusted dresses and over-sized jackets.
The collection also included long, narrow pencil skirts, slim-cut trousers, voluminous tops, contoured silk beaded dresses, and satin blouses, all exuding Ma’s mission to strike a balance between timeless elegance and modernity, femininity and the pure ascetic.
