Next week, the fashion industry will look towards Hong Kong for the 42nd Fall/Winter Hong Kong Fashion Week, Asia’s largest fashion event. Held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) expects nearly 2,000 exhibitors at the fashion fair and high-profile international designers at the concurrent World Boutique fashion event. The four-day-long extravaganza will feature the ongoing fashion fair, fashion seminars, and runway shows.
While Fashion Week will feature pavilions from mainland China, India, Japan, Macau and Taiwan to showcase edgy brands from each country, the highlight of the week will be the Hong Kong Fashion Extravaganza show on January 17 and the Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers contest. The shows highlight emerging talent such as Japan’s Keita Maruyama, Doii Lee from South Korea, mainland China’s Alex Wang, and Hong Kong’s Barney Cheng.
The HKTDC recently posted a series on its Youtube channel, featuring interviews with designers (including China’s Alex Wang, below) and plans to post daily updates during the event, for those who can’t make it to Hong Kong.
