500 Square Meter Location At Sanlitun Village One Of Label’s Largest In World
Maison Martin Margiela runway show
This evening, the French fashion house Maison Martin Margiela launched its first mainland China boutique at Beijing’s Sanlitun Village, home to the likes of I.T, 45RPM, Brand New China and many more. Following the debut of Maison Martin Margiela’s official Sina Weibo account on October 13, the grand opening kicked off with an autumn/winter runway show attended by celebrities like Hong Huang (洪晃), Ye Mingzi (叶明子), Charlene Choi (蔡卓妍) and Louis Koo (古天樂).
The 500 square meter location — the label’s largest in the world — is located in Sanlitun Village North, neighboring other European brands like Balmain, Moncler and Lanvin.
Though the new Sanlitun Village location is its first in China, it’s not exactly Maison Martin Margiela’s first appearance in Beijing. Two summers ago, the label teamed up with I.T for an exhibition and fashion retrospective in the city’s 798 Art Zone, which served to introduce the brand to a fairly receptive audience. As Dazed & Confused wrote about the 2009 exhibition:
