Don’t Miss: Triple-Major Concept Store Grand Opening and Inaugural Exhibition In Beijing (Oct. 29)

Posted on March 5, 2019 by FASHIONISLANDBLOG

Store Stocks Over 20 Designers From More Than 10 Countries, Including Finland, Austria And The Netherlands

Triple-Major is a breath of fresh air in Beijing's commercialized fashion market

Tomorrow night (October 29, 8-10 PM), fashion and/or art lovers in Beijing should be sure to check out the grand opening of the vintage and avant-garde concept store Triple-Major, which also features a solo exhibition by the Australian art and design collaborative ffiXXed.

Triple-Major calls itself a “creative studio aiming to reinvent fashion standards,” which looks to stock not only select vintage finds hand-picked by proprietor Richie Chan, but also support avant-garde designers from around the world. Fans of label-mixing will be pleased to see everyone from Fabrics Interseason, Patrik Ervell and Pelican Avenue to experimental designers like Anntian, Daniel Palillo, Mundi and Rozalb de Mura on the shelves. With Beijing’s fashion scene becoming increasingly cluttered, particularly with mass-market, fast-fashion brands or showy luxury marques, Triple-Major aims to be an alternative selection to Beijing’s commercialized fashion scene.

The store’s subdued design, which calls to mind a traditional Chinese clinic, symbolically presents its avant-garde designs as “antidotes” to the erosion of individuality pushed by commercial fashion.

Design by ffiXXed

As part of the opening event, the Australian collaborative art and design project ffiXXed will present “everything, everywhere, all the time,” its first solo exhibition, presenting a series of new works that examine the cultural, social and economic dimensions of contemporary consumer lifestyle. Incorporating elements of interior design, architecture, fashion, and various other forms of personal and found imagery, ffiXXed respond to Triple-Major’s multifunctional space to reconstruct a more fluid approach to the personal, social and consumer activities that take place within the store’s diverse spaces. In addition to holding the solo exhibition, Triple-Major will exclusively sell ffiXXed’s collection.

The Triple-Major concept store is located at 81 Baochao Hutong, Dongcheng District, Beijing (Map). The grand opening will take place October 29 from 8-10 pm, corresponding with the opening of the ffiXXed exhibition, which is on display through November 12th.
