Hong Kong Label Started In 2010 By Young Designer Eilidh Ho

Lovers of whimsical prints, airy fabrics and Peter Pan collars rejoice: Hong Kong’s Book of Deer is set to become your new favorite label. Founded in 2010 by Edinburgh-born, Hong Kong-raised, Central Saint Martins-educated designer Eilidh Ho, Book of Deer has steadily gained local (and, increasingly, international) attention for its fun, feminine and — perhaps above all else — cute designs.
Characterized by soft details, warm tones and gently flowing lines, rather than the hard avant-garde edges so popular among most young designers in Greater China, Book of Deer (named after the oldest manuscript written in Scotland) translates daydreams to design, with the narrative of each collection embedded in the hand-drawn, digitally printed exclusive chiffon prints that bring Ho’s vision to life. As Ho puts it, “Book of Deer designs for the quietly iconoclastic girl with an active imagination, spinning a tale into every garment and encouraging the wearer to keep her head in the clouds.”
Following up the fanciful “Camp Book of Deer” Spring-Summer 2013 collection, Book of Deer recently unveiled its nautical-themed Autumn-Winter 2013 line, “Selkie and Sea.”
Buy Book of Deer online through its official e-shop, on Shop des Createurs, and at Daydream Nation (2/F, Hong Kong Arts Centre, 2 Harbour Road, Wanchai).
